Senior Fellow Messages: Technology Transfer

The position of Senior Fellow, the pinnacle of professionals, is held to pass on advanced expertise and know-how in R&D and product development processes. They are active in a wide range of fields, including architecture, memory design, device and process development, etc. Through their activities in academic societies and industry associations, they are committed to the development of semiconductor technology and the transfer of technology to the next generation. Here we introduce five Senior Fellows who are particularly active in domestic and international academic societies.

He has worked on processor architecture and SoC development. Currently, his focus is on enhancing the competitiveness of Kioxia products through the development of optical-connected memory systems and storage.

Since joining the company, he has promoted R&D of semiconductor technology, and commercialized a random number generation semiconductor for information security. He also received an award for the development of HBM. Currently, he is exploring new areas of memory applications such as MRAM.

He has worked on R&D of transceiver ICs for cell phones, and has experience in high-frequency circuit design and device modeling using silicon process. He is currently working on R&D of optical communications.

He was involved in the development of 3D flash memory BiCS FLASH™ and won many awards. He has newly developed CBA technology and is currently exploring new “Memory Technology” using this technology as strength.

He was involved in R&D and technology establishment in the areas of lithography, masks, inspection and metrology. He has many related papers and patents. He has also devoted himself to the development of the industry. Currently, he is conceptualizing a new observation method for 3D nano-structures of advanced semiconductor devices.

Engineer Development

Kioxia proactively nurtures and trains its engineers. New employees are provided with basic training covering electrical engineering, electronic, semiconductors, information processing and storage systems fundamentals, as well as manufacturing, statistics, AI and machine learning; these are seen as essential steps to enhance engineers’ technical skills. Furthermore, specialized technical courses covering the skills needed for technology development are provided to engineers from their second year of employment onwards.
On-the-job training and a variety of education programs within each division are provided under a mentor in each workplace, with detailed instructions provided to each individual in accordance with their career status. In addition, we are striving to create a work environment that encourages each individual to shape their own career as an engineer, with the company facilitating the necessary learning.

Through programs and self-development support tailored to individual needs and career characteristics, engineers who have started their careers aim to become Technology Specialists while strengthening their own technical backgrounds. There is a path to become a Generalist who connects business and technology, and a path to become a Professional who creates new value by connecting technology and technology and to become a Senior Fellow, the pinnacle of such Professionals.
